Woman rushed to hospital after horror three-vehicle crash on Scots road

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a horror three-vehicle crash in Fife.

Emergency services scrambled to the scene after the accident happened on Lumphinnans Road in Lochgelly this afternoon.

Police attended and closed off the road following the smash, which happened at around 3.30pm.

Ambulance crews took a female driver of one of the vehicles to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy for treatment.

Pictures from the scene show a large emergency response with traffic backed-up on the street.

The road has now reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to the report of a three vehicle road crash on Lumphinnans Road at around 3.30pm this afternoon.

"One lady has been taken to the Victoria Hospital in Fife.

"The road reopened at 4.20pm."
