A police probe has been launched after a woman was violently attacked in a plush Edinburgh park.
Emergency services were called to the scene in The Meadows following reports of a ‘disturbance’ at around 8.15pm on Monday.
A 43-year-old woman was found to have sustained facial injuries during the incident and was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment.
The extent of her injuries are currently unknown but officers have arrested and charged a 37-year-old man in connection.
A police spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a disturbance at The Meadows in Edinburgh around 8.15pm on Monday, 26 October.
"A 43-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment to facial injuries.
"A 37-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
