Woman rushed to hospital after horror A9 two-car crash in Highlands

A woman has been rushed to hospital after a two car crash on the A9 in the Highlands.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Portgower shortly before 1.30pm on Monday, July 12.

The scenic road remains closed by police while they continue to deal with the ongoing incident.

Police Scotland confirmed that one woman has been taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness as a precaution.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays in the surrounding area and to find an alternative route if possible.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: “A9 closure. Both directions remain closed at Portgower due to an RTC. Police are on scene. Please use an alternative route if you can.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman added: “Emergency services are in attendance following a report of a two vehicle crash on the A9 near Portgower.

“A woman has been taken to Raigmore Hospital as a precaution. The road is currently blocked.”
