Woman rushed to hospital after crash on major road

A large emergency presence was called to the scene of a crash in Kirkby yesterday evening.

Two cars were involved in the collision on County Road, near the junction with Boyes Brow, which left one of the occupants, a woman, with a minor injury.

She was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A white Ford Ka and another silver Chevrolet Aveo were the two vehicles involved at 6.40pm on Wednesday.

Police, fire crews and an ambulance were all called to the scene as crowds of concerned onlookers gathered to watch.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said road closures were put in place on County Road and Headbolt Lane in Kirkby.
