Police have released these shocking pictures of a car crushed underneath a lorry after a crash on the M58.
Emergency services were called to Junction 1 of the motorway for Kirkby at around 2.50pm on Tuesday, April 13.
Merseyside Police said the crash involved a car and a lorry at the approach to Switch Island.
Road closures were put in place as an air ambulance landed at the scene.
A woman, the driver of the Peugeot car, was rushed to hospital for treatment.
Police said she sustained an injury to her face during the crash which is not believed to be life threatening.

A police spokesperson said: "The male driver of the lorry was uninjured and remained at scene to assist with enquiries.
"The road is in the process of being reopened."

Photos released by the Merseyside Police Roads Policing Unit show the aftermath of the crash this afternoon.
In the photos, the bonnet of the Peugeot can be seen crushed underneath the lorry and car parts are scattered across the road.
The Roads Policing Unit tweeted: "We've been dealing with this RTC at Switch Island from the M58.
"We're very pleased to report the driver will be ok and is stable in hospital with relatively minor.
"The road will be reopen soon, we're just clearing the scene now. Thank you to everyone who stopped to help."
