A woman was rushed to hospital after a car burst into flames in Castlemilk.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the dramatic incident around 7:30pm yesterday evening following reports of a traffic collision on Drakemire Drive.

An eyewitness told the Daily Record that it was lucky that the car had came to a stop close to a local fire station and that the local community had stepped in - with photos from the scene showing flames leaping from the bonnet of a black hatchback vehicle.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told the paper: "We were alerted at 7.29pm on Sunday, August 2 to reports of a road traffic collision in the Castlemilk area of Glasgow.
