Woman rushed to hospital after blaze sends house up in flames

A woman was rushed to hospital after a fire ripped through a house.

Three fire crews were called to the blaze on Ingleby Road, just off New Ferry Road in Wirral, at around 6.50pm on Sunday.

It came after Merseyside Police received a report of a concern for the safety of a woman at a property.

The woman was taken to hospital by emergency services but the nature of any injuries are currently unclear.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said they remained on scene of the "police incident" until 8.05pm.

The ECHO understands a joint investigation into the fire is now underway between Merseyside Police and the fire service.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were initially called to a concern for safety of a female and whilst patrols have been there they've become aware of a blaze inside the property.

"Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended and put out a small fire. A female was taken to hospital.

"There's a joint investigation between ourselves and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service. Enquiries are ongoing."
