Woman rushed to hospital after being rescued from first floor flat by firefighters

A woman has been rushed to hospital after she was rescued from a blaze in a first floor flat.

The fire broke out at the property on Queen’s Road, in Collyhurst, at around 7.15pm this evening (March 24).

Firefighters raced to the scene and used a ladder to reach the woman and hose reels and fans to bring the flames under control.

The casualty was taken to hospital by the paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service.

Her condition is not yet known.

Fire crews and police are still at the scene this evening.

The cause of the fire of the fire will now be investigated.

A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At around 7.15pm on Wednesday March 24 firefighters were called to a reports of a fire at a property on Queen’s Road in Manchester.

“Fire engines from Manchester Central, Philips Park, Blackley and Broughton quickly attended the scene.

“The fire involved a first floor flat. Firefighters used a ladder, breathing apparatus, hose reels and a positive pressure ventilation fan to bring the fire under control.

“One woman was rescued from the property by firefighters before being transferred to the care of colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service.

“Crews remain in attendance.”
