Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by car in Ayrshire

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car in Ayrshire this afternoon.

Emergency services raced to the scene at around 2.20pm today on Crawfords Lodge access road in Ardrossan.

The woman was taken to Cross House Hospital for injuries.

Her current condition is not known at this time.

Police have now launched an investigation into the incident.

The A78 between the Montfode Roundabout and West Kilbride area is currently closed as a result.

A police spokesperson said: "Around 2.20pm on Friday, 19 June, 2020 police received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Crawfords Lodge access road, Ardrossan.

"Emergency services are in attendance and a woman has been taken to Cross House Hospital.

"The A78 between the Montfode Roundabout and West Kilbride area is currently and diversions are in place."
