Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by taxi during rush hour

A woman was rushed to hospital after being knocked down by a taxi during rush hour.

Emergency services were called to Strand Road in Bootle at around 4.20pm to reports that a pedestrian had been involved in a collision with a Skoda.

The woman sustained a head injury during the crash and was taken to hospital for treatment but her condition is not yet known.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We were called to reports of a collision at 4.20pm, involving a female pedestrian and a Skoda private hire taxi.

"The woman was assessed by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital with head injuries.

"Her condition is not yet known.

"The taxi driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries."

A number of roads have been closed around the scene while officers deal with the incident.

Travel site INRIX said: "Rimrose Road in both directions closed due to accident, a car and a pedestrian involved at A5057 Strand Road.

"The road was closed at the junction around 17:10. It has since been confirmed by callers that the road is shut in both directions."
