Woman rushed to hospital after being hit by car near Glasgow's Botanic Gardens

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being hit by a car near Glasgow's Botanic Gardens.

Emergency services raced to Great Western Road around 5.15pm tonight to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.

A woman has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital following the incident.

The extent of her injuries are not yet known.

Police officers remain on the scene and the road is currently closed northbound.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 5.15pm to report of a road traffic crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Great Western Road, Glasgow, near the entrance to the Botanic Gardens.

"A woman who was the pedestrian has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"Officers are currently at the scene."
