Woman rushed to hospital after being found seriously injured in Edinburgh stairwell

A woman has been rushed to hospital after being found seriously injured in an Edinburgh stairwell.

The 42-year-old was discovered in the common stairwell at flats in West Pilton Avenue at 5.25am on Monday.

She was rushed to hospital where she is in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating how she got her injuries.

Detective Inspector Mark Lumsden of Edinburgh CID said: “This incident has left a woman with serious injuries and we are urging anyone with any information to come forward.

“If you have seen or heard anything in the area either overnight, or in the early hours of the morning, please get in contact as any information could assist us with our investigation."
