A cleaning hack has emerged explaining how to deal with a 'hidden' microwave filter which may need a good wash.
The microwave compartment is well tucked away with most people unaware it exists, according to OK.
However, @Mamasknowbest's video on TikTok revealed the hidden compartment should really be getting cleaned as it is a lot more important than you might think.
Viewers were shocked as the video showed a step-by-step guide on how to thoroughly clean the charcoal filter hidden away in our microwaves.
The account is full of cooking and cleaning tips along with other 'life hacks' with the latest microwave cleaning video being viewed more than two million times so far.
The cleaning fanatic lifted the top plastic piece from her microwave, uncovering a filthy filter area which she then removed and left to soak in soapy water.
She continued by cleaning the plastic filter cover with a soapy sponge, while explaining how it is vital that the filter is properly sanitised.
However, for this who aren't keen on getting their hands dirty, it turns out that buying a new microwave filter is a relatively simple alternative.
The woman explained how she was actually waiting for a new filter to arrive, and was just cleaning the current filter while she waited for the delivery.
Many viewers were shocked to find out about the secret microwave component, with a vast amount of people admitting they had no idea that microwaves had filters.
One TikTok user reacted nervously, writing that she was pretty certain she'd never replaced her microwave's filter, and was "afraid to look".
Another use added jokingly: "TikTok just continues to tell me how useless I truly am as an adult."
