Woman reveals £1 hack for banishing toilet limescale after battling stains 'for years'

A woman has shared a simple solution for removing stubborn limescale on her toilet - and it only costs £1 to do.

Over time, hard water build-up in your toilet bowl can result in some unsightly black marks that are difficult to get rid of. Even if you clean it regularly, they can still appear and make the inside of your toilet look dirty.

After trying 'for years' to get rid of limescale, the woman came across a cheap way to get her toilet looking sparkling again, sharing her discovery on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook.

The Mirror reports that in her post, the woman had said she'd tried out a previous suggestion from another group member - a bottle of Harpic Black, also known as Harpic Power Plus, that only costs £1.

She left the product in her toilet bowl overnight, and woke up to a perfectly clean result.

Posting to the group, the woman said: "I've been trying for years to get limescale off the bottom of the bowl. I'd tried coke, scrubbing and a ton of bleach. Nothing worked!"

She continued: "I saw on here to try Harpic Black, I poured the whole bottle down and it left overnight (I scooped as much water as possible out first) and well wow it worked. So happy to have a clean-looking toilet at last! Thanks to all who suggested it!"

People flocked to the comments to thank the woman for sharing her tip, with most agreeing that the Harpic Power Plus was indeed a "miracle" product.

One said: "It's great stuff, I've used it on grubby tile grout too. Pour on grout, leave a while then scrub."

Another added: "Always used Harpic toilet cleaner for an effortless solution. It takes five minutes to apply to the bowl and leaves the toilet absolutely spotless."

And a third wrote: "I swear by Harpic Black for removing limescale from toilets, taps, shower screens. It's great stuff, just use it carefully on things other than toilets."

You can pick up the product in Poundland for £1, with major supermarkets such as Tesco and Asda stocking it for £1.65 and £1.75 respectively.
