Emily Kendall was getting ready for a night out, when she encountered a bit of a hiccup - she couldn't find her hair curlers.
The 22-year-old from Morecambe, Lancashire, looked all around the house, but still no tongs.
She was about to cancel her plans, when her young daughter went to touch the hot radiator and inspiration struck.
She said: "I was trying to think where the tongs were and sat on the radiator because I was freezing.
"My daughter tried to touch it and I said, 'No, it's hot'.
"Then I realised the pipe was there and thought 'oh, that might work.'"
So she decided to try wrapping a piece of her hair around the radiator pipe for a few seconds - and she was amazed by the results.

"I thought 'oh my god' when I saw the first curl. I was shocked. I couldn't believe it'd worked," she continued.
"It only took 20 minutes and with my curlers it takes about 40. It's quicker and I'm saving on electricity in the meantime."
Not only did the bizarre hair styling 'hack' take half the time, but Emily also thinks it was "better" for her hair as the radiator didn't smoke the way tongs do.
And she claimed the curls lasted all night and into the next day.
The only downside was that the awkward position of the radiator meant she got a "sore neck".

Impressed with her new curling method, the mum-of-one has said she'll definitely be trying it again soon.
She added: "I've got a few Christmas parties and meals coming up, so I'll be using the pipes again.
"Luckily I didn't burn myself either. I usually burn my fingers when I'm curling my hair, but not this time.
"If someone had suggested this to me in the past, I'd never have done this.
"It's a good hack for when you've lost your curlers. It's a tip for people who didn't get [any] in the sales."
Emily shared photos of her radiator hack on Facebook and her post quickly went viral.
One person commented: "Hahahahaha omg, as if it actually works though, life hacks."
Another wrote: "You legend hahahhaha."
A third praised her for being a "genius".
Someone else added: "This is amazing."
