Woman rescued from horror Chadderton crash leaves hospital with 'minor injuries'

A woman in her 20s rescued from an overturned car following a four-vehicle crash in Chadderton has been released from hospital after suffering minor injuries.

Emergency services were called to the A663 Broadway at about 5.45pm following reports of a multi-vehicle accident.

Fire crews from Hollins and Chadderton turned out alongside the technical rescue unit from Leigh to cut the woman from the wreckage using specialist equipment.

The woman was taken to hospital by an ambulance from the North West Ambulance Service.

Police today said the woman suffered only minor injuries and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Pictures from the scene showed the upturned car with a number of emergency crews working on the vehicle.

North West Ambulance Service said a total of four people were taken to hospital - the woman in her 20s, a man, a teenage female and a four-year-old child, but there were no serious injuries.

The road was closed heading southbound at the Costco entrance, with the collision taking place between Gorse Street and Long Lane, and a number of bus services were diverted.

The road reopened at around 7.30pm.

Broadway was the scene of a fatal accident involving a 59-year-old male pedestrian only two weeks ago, prompting an appeal for witnesses.
