Woman rescued from fire at block of flats in Llanelli

Emergency services were called to a fire at a block of flats in Llanelli in the early hours of Tuesday, October 6.

The incident took place in a second floor flat, within a three-storey block of flats, in Station Road just after 2am.

A woman was treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews.

Three fire crews from Llanelli, Tumble and Gorseinon were at the scene for more than two hours.

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "On Tuesday, October 6, at 2.09am crews from Llanelli, Tumble and Gorseinon attended a property fire in Station Road, Llanelli.

"The fire was confined to a second floor flat, within a three-storey block of flats, and extinguished using four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and a thermal imaging camera.

"Firefighters ventilated the flats using positive pressure ventilation fans.

"A female casualty was treated for smoke inhalation.

"The fire service left the incident at 4.22am."

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service added: "We were called to a residential property in Llanelli at approximately 2.29am on Tuesday, October 6, following reports of a house fire.

"We sent one emergency ambulance and one patient was assessed on site for suspected smoke inhalation but refused any further treatment."
