Woman rescued after jumping into water in Bristol city centre

A woman was rescued after jumping into water in Bristol city centre.

Avon and Somerset Police responded to an incident in Narrow Quay at 3.20am today.

A spokesman for the force said the concern for welfare incident involved a woman in her 20s jumping into the water at 4.20am.

He said police officers got her out straight away and she was taken to Southmead Hospital in the city.

This is the latest of a number of concerning incidents in Bristol.

Last night a man aged in his 30s was arrested after a man arrived at Southmead Hospital with what police said was a 'puncture wound to his neck' following an incident in Charfield Road.

Police said it had been an isolated incident between people known to each other.

A man was pulled from his burning car in Bristol on Sunday afternoon after his vehicle hit a lamp post. Police said yesterday that he was is in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.

They appealed for witnesses and information after the collision which closed the A4 Portway in the city.

And officers revealed yesterday that a seventh arrest had been made into their investigation into the death of Andre Gayle. He suffered multiple stab wounds in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday in Easton.
