Woman rescued after crashing her mobility scooter into Glasgow canal

A woman had to be rescued after she crashed her mobility scooter into Glasgow canal.

Emergency services scrambled to the Forth and Clyde Canal on Sunday just after 6.30pm.

The woman, who uses a mobility scooter, crashed into the water near Netherton Road in the Anniesland area.

Locals speculated that the woman was injured as a result of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told the Record: "A around 6.35 pm on Sunday, September 6, emergency services were alerted to a woman on a mobility scooter having gone into the canal near to Netherton Road, Glasgow.


"The woman was rescued from the water by THE Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS)."

Police were unable to confirm the woman's age or if she required any further medical treatment as 'fire crews carried out the rescue'.

A SFRS spokeswoman confirmed that fire crews attended but declined to comment any further on the incident.

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
