Woman rescued after being padlocked inside public toilet during Aberfoyle visit

A visitor sent out an SOS this week after becoming locked inside a public toilet in Aberfoyle.

The woman took to social media to plead for help on Tuesday evening, sending a Tweet to the council that she was stranded inside the facility.

She posted: ‘This is an urgent request for Stirling Council to get someone back to the public toilets in Aberfoyle ASAP. I’ve been locked inside without so much as a ‘Hello is there anyone there?’. I’d been less than two minutes and came out to two padlocks on both gates!”

The council soon replied and someone was sent to free the trapped woman.

The woman later told the Observer: “I don’t really have much to say apart from highlighting how quickly and effectively the members of Stirling Council acted following the incident. I cannot thank them or praise them highly enough.”

A council spokesperson this week said: “Checks are made prior to closing toilets to ensure no-one is left inside. Unfortunately on this occasion a lady was accidentally locked inside for a short period of time.

An officer contacted the lady later that same evening to check on her wellbeing and she confirmed she was fine.”
