Woman 'reports' purchase to police after she is left feeling sad

A woman 'reported' wax melts to Merseyside Police after joking she had been 'robbed' over the lack of smell.

The woman, from Liverpool, bought some Fairy Floss scented Yankee Candle wax melts for her home on Thursday (August 6) and was left 'sad' when she used them only to find they 'didn't smell of anything'.

The woman took to Twitter after the ordeal and jokingly said she was 'robbed'.

In her tweet she tagged Merseyside Police's account to 'report' the 'crime'.

She wrote: "I bought some Yankee Candle wax melts today and I'm sad to report that I have been ROBBED. I was promised that my house would smell of fairy floss and it doesn’t smell like anything. Thanks for this @TheYankeeCandle. Hello? yes I'd like to report a crime @MerseyPolice."

Around half an hour later the police force responded to the call for help, calling it a 'very serious matter'.

The tongue and cheek tweet read: "Hi this is clearly a very serious matter! We have no idea how anyone lives without the smell of fairy floss, and we would normally ask you to call 999 as the crime is still in progress, but just this once we think @TheYankeeCandle are more likely to help! All the best!"

Yankee Candle also responded to the tweet, they said: "Hello , Thank you for reaching out! Please contact us via DM — we'll be happy to assist you. Thanks! Yankee Candle Team."
