The man is believed to have fled after being knifed in what police termed "an altercation" at around 6am on Sunday, June 20.

Detectives were unable to trace the man and had urged anyone who knew him to get in touch, fearing he could have been seriously injured.

"Officers attended the scene and recovered a knife."

A spokesperson today said: "A 33-year-old woman from Everton was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding.

"She has now been released on bail pending further enquires. The man is believed to have fled the scene and enquiries are ongoing to locate him."

CCTV, forensic and witness enquiries are also being carried out by police.
