Woman, 25, felt world was falling apart after receiving letter in the post

A woman said she felt like her whole world was "falling apart" after she received a letter in the post.

Chantelle Day, 25, from Old Swan, was told by a doctor she could have cancer following a routine cervical smear test.

She has now spoken out about her experience to encourage others to ensure they get checked and attend their appointments.

Chantelle said: "I was dubious about booking in. I felt embarrassed and didn't want to be on my own due to covid.

"My girlfriend had her smear two years before and encouraged me to book in. I did and two weeks later, I received a letter informing me there were abnormalities in my results as well as being positive for HPV."

Grandad who thought his asthma was 'playing up' dies days before his birthday

A grandad who thought his asthma was “playing up” died just days before his 66th birthday from asbestos-related cancer.

His devastated wife of 39 years, Marie, 61 said that she is “still struggling” with the loss of her “soulmate” and is determined to find answers as to how her husband could have contracted the disease.

Dad-of-three Doug Ormsby, an electrical engineer from Liverpool, died from mesothelioma aged 65 in 2019, just two years after he retired from the company he worked at for nearly 40 years.

In 2018, Doug noticed he was struggling with shortness of breath and assumed he was having problems with asthma.

After seeing a GP in October that year he was referred for a chest x-ray and prescribed antibiotics.
