Woman receives note calling her an 'idiot' for parking illegally despite not owning a car

A woman has received a rude note through her letterbox calling her an 'idiot' for parking illegally when she does not even own a car.

Deborah Monroe could not believe her eyes when she received the hand-written letter as she does not currently drive or own a car.

It was delivered to her address in Hartshill, Stoke-on-Trent, at around 8pm on January 31, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

The note read: "DONT park in entry or will report to landlord + police its against the law you idiot."

Deborah shared the note on social media, hoping the person responsible would come forward.

She wrote: "Whoever posted this in my door, I don't have a car so you are the idiot.

"Please come knock back on and get your stupid note back and talk to people face to face. Whoever this is for, leave your car where it is."

Deborah claims the offending car was parked near the entrance of a cobbled back alley but it was not causing a major obstruction.

The 28-year-old said: "When I checked the entrance the car I guess the note was intended for was covering the entry slightly but not blocking it.

"It's too narrow to park a car down there and it's only for bringing your bins out. It wasn't that big of a deal anyway.

"I honestly think they should have left the note on the person's car.

"Either that or knocked on and asked me if it was my car. I don't drive at the moment so the fact they still posted it without correct knowledge shows immaturity.

"It's a bit over the top for an adult and very childish. I'm more annoyed they've assumed it was mine and posted such a vile note."

The mum-of-one explained that a note had been left on the windscreen of the same car around a month ago.

She added: "I have seen notes left on cars around here countless times.

"There is another back alley entrance across the road too which is always blocked by cars as there is literally nowhere else for them to park. But they've never had a note, yet this blue car seems to annoy them."

Parking in the area can be a nightmare according to Deborah, with double yellow lines making it especially difficult and visitors and patients of the Royal Stoke University Hospital parking on nearby streets.

She said: "A lot of people don't use their drives when they have them and we have a business which often has vans out front.

"We also get people from the houses further down which have no parking in front of them trying to park here.

"It's like probably about 20 houses trying to park at the front or squeeze down Nelson Road.

"I think the council has double yellowed far too much of this road."
