Woman reassures people she isn't dying after tweet goes viral

A woman whose birthday appeal went viral was forced to reassure her new fans that she isn't dying.

Diane Cope asked Twitter users to retweet her post so she could have her "five minutes of fame".

Her post received 668,000 likes, 222,000 retweets, and thousands of comments - but it left some concerned, the Mirror reports.

The original post read: "Big ask. I am 62 this weekend, so will probably die soon, or get alzheimers or be rendered insane.

"I would love my 5 mins of fame while I can appreciate it all, please retweet, I would love to go global.. just once, one last chance to prove I existed."

After some assumed she only had a short time left to live, Diane, from Leeds, had to explain that it was just an experiment.

She added: "Morning all. Can I please just make a statement, I am not dying! Most people have read my tweet the way it was intended, just a little experiment.

"However, some apparently think I am at death's door. I am staying put for as long as possible."

Several people responded to her tweet to reassure her that, at 62, she should still have many years ahead of her.

Since Diane's original post, her followers have increased from just a few hundred to nearly 12,000, and she told one she has met "some marvellous people" as a result.

She said: "Gosh! Hello everyone, I only had a handful of followers and now there are over 10 thousand of you!

"I sent the tweet as a bit of an experiment, and then it all went a tad crazy, but great crazy. I am intending to grow old disgracefully, so, lets have some fun!"
