Woman raped by man as his friend stood guard in Tottenham

A woman in her 30s was raped by a stranger in a north London street while his friend stood nearby as a look-out.

The victim was approached by the two men in West Green Road, Tottenham, around 3am on June 25, 2022.

They walked to Houghton Road together before the victim was raped, and the men then walked off back towards West Green Road.

Police were called, and officers rushed to the scene.

The rapist was described by the victim as being drunk.

He was described as being possibly Asian or Turkish, being around 5ft 8ins tall, with a stocky build. He had a thick, tidy black beard and did not speak with an English accent. He was wearing a grey hoodie.

The second man, who acted as look-out, was also described as being possibly Asian or Turkish, being around 5ft 8ins tall, with a slim build.

He had an oval, slim face with short receding hair and a light brown short beard. He was wearing a black jumper.

More than eight months after the victim’s ordeal, her attacker and his accomplice have not been caught.

Scotland Yard detectives on Friday issued an image of two men who they would like to trace.

It comes after detectives investigating the rape appealed for help from the public during an appearance on BBC’s Crimewatch Live.

The CCTV image and a reconstruction of the incident featured on the programme to encourage any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Pembe Rayif, from North Area’s Safeguarding Team, said: “This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim and we are doing everything we can to support her and bring the perpetrator to justice.

“We are very keen to speak to the men in the CCTV images we have released and we would ask anyone who can identify them to come forward.”

Scotland Yard says the victim continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
