An investigation is under way after police discovered a cannabis farm in North Tyneside.

A woman has now been questioned in connection with the operation in a property in Longbenton.

At around 4.45pm last Wednesday, police carried out a search at Charlotte Place and found around 40 plants.

Officers seized the plants and destroyed the farm.

They are now asking anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly before 4.45pm on July 1, we executed a warrant at an address on Charlotte Place, Longbenton.

“Inside the property, officers found a cannabis farm containing about 40 plants at various stages of growth.

“The drugs were subsequently seized and the farm dismantled.

"A 28-year-old woman has been interviewed under caution in connection with the discovery.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police by using the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of our website or by ringing 101 quoting log 783 010720.”
