Woman puzzled after spotting two pigeons in her living room watching her eat dinner

A woman was left bemused after spotting two pigeons sat in her living room watching her eat dinner.

Lucy Topping's picture of the birds perched on a shelf above her television has gone viral on Twitter .

The tweet, which was uploaded on Tuesday, has been retweeted more than 4,000 times and received over 22,000 likes.

Ms Topping, from Highbury, London, wrote: "I've been in my house for about two hours, I just looked up and there’s two pigeons in my sitting room watching me eat my tea. What the f*** do I do?

"I've asked them to leave and they’re just looking at me."

Ms Topping was perplexed as to how the pigeons entered her living room - as all of the windows were shut - although she suspects they got in through a cat flap.

She added that the birds had defecated in her bath and toilet - and told her Twitter followers she was struggling to get them to leave.

The Londoner said a 'tiny broom' proved ineffective against the pigeons and she decided to move her favourite things out of the room and turn off the lights.

However, she eventually managed to usher the birds out of a window in 'an absolutely nightmarish fight/flight sequence'.
