A commuter was punched in the chest by a man who turned “extremely violent” after she dropped her bag on his toe.

Police want to speak to a suspect seen on CCTV following the assault on a Thameslink train at Farringdon station.

He was wearing a yellow T-shirt, headphones around his neck and had a JD Sports duffle bag.

The victim, 28, dropped her bag by accident onto the foot of another passenger just before 12.30am on July 3.

British Transport Police said: “He immediately became verbally abusive before punching her in the chest in an unprovoked manner. Officers believe the man shown in this CCTV image may have information.”
