Woman pulled physiotherapist's hair after altercation in pub

A sport club's physiotherapist was having drinks with players at a bar when a woman grabbed her hair, a court heard.

Out of nowhere the victim felt a grab at the root of her hair at the back of her neck in The Mayze pub, Castle Gate, Newark, on November 30 last year.

Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard the victim was pulled backwards to the point she thought she was going to come off her chair and put her hands up to her neck area to stop who ever it was.

The person responsible was Sophie Johnson, 36, of Laurel Road, Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, who said she was with her partner. She was pushed by one of the players at the pub. Her boyfriend was not happy about that and squared up with another person.

Johnson accepted she pulled the female's hair and, at the time, she felt scared, the court heard.

Johnson pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman when she attended the court on December 18.

The judge said there was a background as to why she chose to do what she did and it was the wrong choice of judgement. He said it was a minor assault without injury.

He imposed a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered she pay the victim £120 compensation.
