If you told your manager you were jetting off to join the Love Island villa tomorrow, how would they react? Well, one worker now knows the answer after pulling a brilliant prank on her boss.
Lucy, a team member at QPR Solutions Recruitment left her colleague in stitches after pretending to be one of the show's bombshells. Committed to the bit, she even told her boss she'd need over a month off work, before she eventually shared the truth.
The daring stunt quickly caught attention on TikTok, where people were quick to praise Lucy's manager for his brilliant response. He even went on to prank her in return, to the delight of many.
In @qprsolutions' video, which has since racked up over 400,000 views, Lucy calls her colleague, Andrew, in for a chat.
"Guys, I'm about to prank my managing director that I'm going on Love Island as the new bombshell," she explains, as she sets up a hidden camera.
When Andrew enters the office, she then tells him he might need to sit down for their conversation. "I know this is really late notice but I need five to six weeks off work," she begins, before adding: "From tomorrow."
"Is everything OK?" asks her concerned boss. "I'm the new bombshell on Love Island," she replies without missing a beat.
As you'd expect, her manager shares his surprise. "You must be taking the p**?" he thinks, but Lucy continues: "No. I'm packing tonight. I'm off tomorrow." Even as her manager starts to look around in shock, she keeps the bit going. "You watch it so you will see me," she explains. It's not until Andrew asks who will take over her projects that Lucy finally caves in and points out the camera. Then the pair erupt into laughter, and Andrew jokingly calls the worker a 'cow'.
Delighted by the exchange, viewers were quick to praise the pair. "Aww he seems like a lovely boss! everyone needs one like him," read one reply. Someone else said: "I love how he checked you were ok before anything." And @linkedinuk commented: "Treasure this manager."
However, the story doesn't end there as Andrew went on to get his revenge. In a follow-up video, he proudly explains: "I'm hoping to get Lucy back on a bit of a revenge mission here. She's just passed her qualifications for her apprenticeship. I'm going to tell her that she's failed. We'll see how she likes it."
A man of his word, Andrew then goes on to do just that, leaving poor Lucy 'distraught'. Thankfully, she saw the funny side of things after Andrew revealed he was 'only joking' and presented her with her certificate and a celebratory bottle. "Got you," screams a triumphant Andrew, who also said he believes 'revenge is a dish best served cold.'
Several commenters agreed and loved the outcome. One person said: 'Brilliant! You should have pretended you was going on Love Island and you though she'd found out." But @qprsolutions replied: "C'mon now, it has to be believable!"
