Any necklace wearer who has ever put jewellery in a suitcase or travel bag knows the nightmare of trying to untangle the mess of knots that forms as soon as the necklace enters the bag.
But it seems that tangled jewellery might be a thing of the past thanks to one woman.
A TikTok user named Deanna Giulietti has revealed a clever hack to put a stop to this - she uses a straw to help keep her jewellery separated, which means the chains will never get tangled or knotted.
In a video, she explained: "When I travel for the weekend, I put all my necklaces on my neck because I’m always afraid if I throw them in my bag they’re going to turn into a knot. But you guys turned me on to the straw method!"
Deanna then takes a necklace and feeds one side of the chain through the straw before connecting the clasp so the other side stays outside, meaning the two sides of the chain will never connect and tie together.
She excitedly added: "Take a straw that’s the same length as the necklace, feed it through … and look at this! It’ll never get tangled! Look at this!"
The woman even did her part for the environment as she encouraged everyone to use reusable straws, or to at least keep plastic ones for the necklace hack instead of throwing them away.

She adds: "Obviously using a reusable straw is better, so be better than me. I’m going to reuse, reduce, recycle, hon! And this is my new life moving forward. Genius! It’s a 10 out of 10!"
The video has since gone viral, being viewed over 347,000 times, and has over 54,000 likes.
And commenters can’t get enough of the life-changing hack.
One wrote: "This is the best hack I’ve ever seen! I just wrap mine in tissue paper but now I have to try the straw method!!"
While a second added: "Honestly this is brilliant."
And another person said: "So smart!!!! Why have I never thought of this."
