A woman played dead as she 'choked' on her own blood and heard her bones break in a vicious attack.
Paris Hodge, 26, said Jamie Alan Jones almost killed her when he assaulted her during an argument about a cigarette.
Jones, 30, dragged Paris out of bed and started kicking her head after she told him she did not have any fags left, WalesOnline reports.
Blood poured over her eyes and into her mouth and out of desperation she decided to play dead in a bid to survive.
Thankfully Jones eventually stopped the beating and fled the scene on May 25.
He was convicted at Swansea Crown Court in August after pleading guilty to actual bodily harm and handed an 18-month prison sentence alongside a three year restraining order.
However, Paris, from Swansea, argues "no justice has been served" and she has been left with "no faith in the justice system".
The brutal attack on the morning of May 25 while Paris was still in bed.
Jones asked her for a cigarette only to find out she didn't have any left.
That was the trigger for a verbal and then unrelenting physical assault.
Paris said: "I had just woken up and was still in bed and he didn't believe me, he always had a bit of a temper but he just seemed so out of control that day, he called me a liar and that is when he started getting worse.
"He started punching my face and head as I was lying down in bed and dragged me out to stamp on me and kick my head."
Describing the abuse suffered at the hands of her ex partner, Paris argues she has been left with lasting physical and mental damage, adding that the sounds of "cracks" and "crunches" as her former partner beat her still stay in her memory even to this day.
"He just wouldn't stop, I was choking on my own blood.
"I did not think I was getting out of there alive, he pinned me down by the neck and screamed at me that he was going to finish me off."
Having sustained a number of facial injuries, Paris made a desperate attempt to survive.
"I just didn't know what to do, I couldn't see out of my eyes as the blood was just too much so I just laid on the floor pretending to be dead in hope he would leave me," she said.
"He kept beating me but eventually It went quiet in the flat and I looked up to see the window was open and thought he must have jumped out."
Grabbing a tea towel to wipe her face, Paris was left "shocked" to see the white cloth turn red as it soaked up all the blood left dripping from her face.
Moments later police surrounded the flat. Thankfully a neighbour had overheard the whole violent exchange.
"At first I denied anything had happened," she said. "I thought I was to blame and didn't want any help but officers convinced me I needed it.

"He had always been controlling, for quite some time, but I was in love with him. I felt like I was in the wrong."
X-rays would later confirm a broken nose and fractures to her skull.
Swansea Crown Court heard how relatives met Jones as he was walking in a nearby street after his attack.
They said he appeared "wound up" and said his partner had been "doing my head in" and he thought he had killed her.
Police only found Jones a few weeks after the attack, back at his victim's home. He denied assaulting her, saying she had "slipped while tending to her cats".
Struggling with issues around her memory, confidence and physical scars all left by the attack, Paris said: "My confidence, anxiety and depression have all gotten much worse, I still struggle to breathe through my nose and have scars on my face from him.
"I don't leave my home at all after the incident."
Paris said the support provided to her by her current partner Junior Butler has helped her speak about the abuse.
She added: "I am in a much better place now, Junior is really supportive of me and understands what I have been through, he calms me. I did not think I would find someone like him after all the abuse I endured."
Paris now wants to raise awareness and support others in fighting against severe domestic abuse.
"I don't want anyone to go through what I went through," she said.
