A woman has been left perplexed after she was sent an invoice by a man she went on a date with - who demanded she pay him back the £29 he spent on her food and drink. Fiona Hope admitted she realised while on the date that she had no "romantic connection" with the man, but when she told him that over text message afterwards, he responded by sending her a digital invoice so that he could get back the money he spent on taking her to dinner.
In a viral video, Fiona showed that the project name for the invoice was listed as "unsuccessful date" and had a due date of ASAP. The invoice also broke down the costs the man expected Fiona to pay, with £17 for food and £12 for drinks, making the total to be paid £29.

Fiona, who posted the video on TikTok under the username @fifihopes, said: "What you're looking at here is an invoice I received after an unsuccessful date, as it reads here above under 'project'. No f***ing joke. Due date, ASAP.
"I'm not kidding. I told him I didn't have a romantic connection with him over message, politely. And this is the response. He said it's not a matter of money, it's the principle. £29, man, come on! Give me a break.
"Would you do this? I just ... I can't believe it."
In the caption, the woman joked there were "no refunds allowed" on dates, and in the comments, she claimed she had actually offered to pay several times while the pair were out together, but he had refused to let her.

She added: "Just to clarify, I offered to pay several times and he was extremely insistent. I'm not going to beg to pay."
Commenters on the post were split though, as many men took the time to praise Fiona's date as a "hero" for his actions, while many women joked they would send invoices to their ex-partners to make up for "wasted time".
One person said: "Oh if we're invoicing for wasted time now, my exes are about to get a hefty bill."
While another added: "Send him an invoice back for your wasted time, including getting ready, transport, makeup, outfit, hair styling products, everything."
Someone else simply praised the man as they wrote: "This is a game changer, this man is a hero."
And a fourth posted: "This is brilliant, fair play to the bloke."
Others, however, said that Fiona had "dodged a bullet" by realising early on that she had no romantic connection with the man, as they said his behaviour after their date was a "red flag".
Someone said: "His pride wouldn't let you pay in public, but in private he wants a refund."
As someone else added: "I assume people [in the comments] telling her to pay the man, especially the men, think dates are transactional. Red flag."
