Woman paints a rainbow on her Cardiff home to thank NHS workers during coronavirus pandemic

A woman painted a rainbow on to her white-washed house to thank NHS workers during the coronavirus pandemic.

Rhiannon Lewis, 41, took a paintbrush to the front of her white terraced home to give it a mulitcoloured makeover.

Families across Wales have put rainbow drawings in their windows to thank key workers on the frontline.

Rhiannon said her neighbours in Splott, Cardiff, have been supportive of her bright coloured arches.

Families have been stopping outside the house for a quick photo on their daily outings during lockdown.

Rhiannon, an operations manager at Glasshouse, said: "I live in the best street ever and all my neighbours have been supportive and excited about it.

"It is a really panicked time and everything has been cancelled.

"People are only going out once a day so my house is just something interesting to look at and cheer everyone up."

Homeowners across the country have also been putting messages of support in their windows for NHS workers to see with the words "stay safe" and "be kind."

Children have been using chalk on pavements to create more rainbows and lift spirits.

Rhiannon, who has a large following on her @cardiffcottage instagram page, added: "I've seen cars stopping outside and kids getting out to have a quick photo.

"I think it's important to thank everyone during this time. NHS workers, carers, police, refuse collectors and so many more."
