Woman outraged after John Lewis sales assistant's use of very common word

A woman was outraged after a John Lewis staff member used the word "quid" to quote the price of a product.

Donna Hewer, who visited a John Lewis store in Cheltenham, took her frustration online to write a bad review, blasting the shop assistant for not quoting the product in "pounds".

Giving the store a 1 star rating, she wrote: "I am very disappointed at how the shop assistants spoke to me today.

"Saying quid when quoting a price is unexceptable (sic) in any shop. I expect better from John Lewis."

The post was then shared on Twitter by Cheltenham Problems which made fun of her for typing "unexpectable" instead of "unacceptable".

The review sparked some controversy (GloucestershireLive/ WS)

In the post, they wrote: "As for us, Donna, we're so disappointed in how you've chosen to spell 'unacceptable."

Other Twitter users were quick to lash out at the demanding shopper.

Another user commented: "Good grief. What century were you born in??? Shop assistants are not servants."

Another said: "Get over it!"

Others were unsure whether the review was a joke.

The Cheltenham store opened nine months ago, and has received an average rating of 4.1 out of five stars on Google reviews.

John Lewis has not commented on the incident.
