NOIDA: A 65-year-old woman was hit by a speeding bus while going to cast her vote for the Urban Local Bodies poll in UP's Dadri.
The victim Sanjeeda Begam, 65, is on ventilator in a private hospital.
Rajkumar Bhati, spokesperson Samajwadi Party, alleged that police had conducted mild lathi charge to disperse crowd at Mihir Bhoj Inter College which created chaos.
"Some voters had reached the polling centre to cast their votes. Some of them lacked voter identity cards. As per rules they can cast votes by producing other identification cards like Aadhar card. The police lathi charged thm. Sanjeeda tried to escape and was hit by the bus," he said.
Vandita Shrivastava, ADM Finance, and deputy district election officer, denied the allegations of lathi charge. "The woman was crossing the road and she was hit by the bus. There was no lathi charge."
Police said the bus driver has been arrested.
