Woman on mobility scooter taken to hospital after collision with car in North Shields

A mobility scooter user has been taken to hospital after being knocked over by a car.

Emergency services were called to the scene in North Shields on Saturday after reports that the woman had been involved in a collision with a vehicle.

Paramedics and police attended at the junction of Albion Road and Tynemouth Road shortly before noon and the woman was taken to Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said that local officers were dealing with the collision, near North Tyneside Magistrates' Court, and it is not believed to have been serious.

A spokeswoman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.50am to reports of an incident involving a car and a patient on a mobility scooter.

"We sent an ambulance and a rapid response and we have taken one female patient to Cramlington hospital."
