Woman nearly died after epileptic fit on overcrowded ScotRail train

A woman nearly died after suffering an epileptic fit on an overcrowded train.

The passenger confronted ScotRail boss Alex Hynes at a meeting in Fife this week.

She said she fell ill on a “packed, hot train” in March and a guard struggled to reach her to give her emergency first aid.

The woman told Tuesday’s meeting in Markinch : “I could have died on that service because it was so overcrowded.”

Hynes apologised, saying it was “completely unacceptable”.

He admitted ScotRail had “let people down” between November and May but said significant improvements had been made, adding that more had to be done.

Hynes added: “One of the things we absolutely have to do is add more carriages.”
