As children, our minds are partly moulded and shaped by our parents and we trust that they know better than us.
So when one woman's parents taught her to say certain words in her younger years, she didn't think anything of it.
However, she recently found out she's spent her entire life pronouncing a very common word wrong and now she's mortified.
Taking to TikTok, 20-year-old Millie, who posts under the username @milkycheez, responded to a trend in which users were asked to share an English word they'd been mispronouncing their entire life because their "parent says it that way".

Millie can be seen holding her hand over her mouth and shaking her head, before explaining: "I literally only just found out that it's pronounced Ibuprofen. I think... I still don't know.
"But I know it's definitely not pronounced how my parents taught me.
"I've been calling it I-BOOP-ERFEN for 19 years."
More than one million people have since watched the clip, with over 135,000 people liking it and thousands commenting.
Some people loved the way Millie pronounced it and joked someone should "petition to change it to I-booperfen".
Another replied: "I only just found out it was called Calpol, not cow pol."
A different user said: "Well, that's what I call it now."
Someone else added: "I used to work in a pharmacy and there's several different ways to mispronounce it. You said it right the first time though."
