A woman who has been longing to return to the slopes of the French Alps decided to make the most of the snow in Nottingham over the weekend - by skiing down her street.
Helene Hazell, 43, was presented with an opportunity too good to miss on the evening of Sunday, January 24, when the county was blanketed in a pristine layer of snow.
The avid skier, who runs the Hair of the Dog pet grooming business in Sneinton, had been unable to take to the slopes of France, Bulgaria or Austria as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
But living in the city suburb did not stop her from donning a set of skis and turning St Chad's Road and Denstone Road into her very own ski slope to the delight of her neighbours.
"Normally I go skiing in Austria or France and this year I was planning to go," she told Nottinghamshire Live.
"I was at home on my own yesterday and the snow just kept getting thicker. I thought it would be a laugh to put on Facebook because everyone is feeling a bit down at the minute.
"I have been skiing since I was 19. I could see people smiling at me. It was good fun."
Helene, who has lived in Sneinton for the past 16 years, took her pooch Pookie out with her to join in with the fun.
The video, which she has shared on Facebook, has been viewed thousands of times since.
People have been describing the act as "brilliant" and "nuts".
"I have been France, Austria and Bulgaria in the past," Helene added.
"I tried putting on my ski jacket and I could not put it on because I have put so much weight on during lockdown.
"It was a bit of fun. People were laughing as I went right down to the bottom of the road."
