Woman 'mauled' by her own dogs now recovering at home

A woman who was attacked by her own dogs in an incident in St Helens has now been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.

She was left "seriously injured" after being attacked by four of her own dogs yesterday morning.

Armed police were called to Assam Close in the Sutton area following reports of the dog attack.

The dogs, which were initially described as 'bulldogs', were taken away by officers. There was no further update on them from police today.

A large emergency response, including police, ambulances and the fire service, could be seen at the scene at around 10.15am on Monday.

Witnesses said they saw police loading a small dog into the back of an unmarked black van before driving away.

A resident close to the property told the ECHO: "You should have seen it before, the whole street was filled with police, ambulance and everything, it was mad.”

Another person living on the same estate said that there has been previously been trouble in the area and that residents "have to suffer" through it.

One resident of the street said: "It's normally a nice estate so it's obviously really surprising when something like this goes on."
