Woman makes incredible cocktail that tastes just like Drumstick Squashies sweets

As the UK spends yet another weekend in lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic, to help limit the spread of the killer bug, many will find themselves staying home.

If you're one of those people and are looking for something fun to do, you could always have a go at whipping up a batch of cocktails to enjoy.

A recipe for one specific drink has been doing the rounds on social media over the last few days and it looks really tasty.

Dawn Brizio shared her recipe for an alcoholic version of Drumstick Squashies sweets.

Writing in a post on the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK, she said: "I love these sweets so much I created an alcoholic drink version."

So what do you need to make one?

Dawn's recipe features 35ml Apple Sours, 25ml Vodka, a dash of Apple Monin syrup, 25ml Cherry Sours and 20mls Cherry-flavoured Monin Syrup, plus ice and lemonade.

Once you've assembled all your ingredients you can start making the drink.

First, mix the Apple Sours with the vodka and apple Monin Syrup.

Once all of these are mixed together, blend with ice to form a slushie consistency.

Put some crushed ice in a glass and add the drink mixture.

Top with the Cherry Sours, Cherry syrup and some lemonade.

If so desired, you can also decorate with actual Drumstick Squashies if you have some.

Dawn added that the syrups were optional and the drink could just be made with the vodka and Sours.

More than 1,000 people liked and commented on her post.

One person said the cocktails sounded "delightful".

Another wrote: "These look so nice."

Someone else replied: "I love those sweets and now I've seen this, feel like I need to try one."

And Dawn's not the only one who's been whipping up alcoholic beverages inspired by popular sweets.

A woman named Emma, recently shared a recipe for Percy Pig cocktails.

Posting on her Instagram account, @emmascakesandcocktails, she showed how to create the pink drink which she calls a Pigtini.

To make it, she puts four to five strawberries in a blender, along with two scoops of vanilla ice cream, a handful of ice, a tablespoon of Percy Pig sauce and two shots of Tequila Rose.

Next, Emma blends all the ingredients together.

To serve, she decorates a Martini glass by swirling more of the Percy Pig sauce in it, before pouring in the mixture and garnishing with Percy Pig sweets.
