Woman makes disturbing find in sushi that 'made her gums bleed'

A woman claims she was left with bleeding gums after biting into some sushi that contained plastic.

The unnamed shopper was "pretty shocked" when she started chewing on the sushi roll and felt something unpleasant.

She then pulled out “sharp plastic pieces” from her 'smoked salmon sushi munch box' which was reduced to $3.50.

She bought the Japanese delicacy from Coles in Sydney on Saturday.

She later took to the store's Facebook page to complain.

“Thank God I didn’t swallow it. How can I report this and what should I do?,” her post read.

“Pretty shocked, definitely not having sushi for a while again.”

A spokeswoman told Yahoo News Australia that it is investigating the incident.

She said: “Coles takes the quality of all our products seriously.

“We have contacted the customer and will follow up with our supplier to investigate the matter.

”As always we encourage customers to return any item they’re not 100 per cent happy with to their nearest store for a full refund or replacement.”
