Woman left with serious injuries following police incident on A77

A woman has been left with serious leg injuries following a police incident on the A77 today.

Officers closed the road after receiving a report of a concern for person at around 10.25am on the road at Kilmarnock.

The 31-year-old woman was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital following the incident.

Shortly after police arrived the northbound road was closed at the Bellfield Interchange with traffic being diverted off at the roundabout.

Officers had also advised motorists to avoid the area.

Police have advised that the road has now fully reopened.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We received a report of a concern for a person around 10.25am at the Bellfield Interchange of the A77 in Kilmarnock.

"A 31-year-old woman sustained serious leg injuries and was taken to Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock, by the Scottish Ambulance Service.”
