Woman left with 'serious injuries' after brutal overnight assault in Dublin

A woman was left in hospital with serious injuries after a brutal overnight assault in Dublin.

The shocking incident happened at an apartment on Parnell Street in the city centre at around 2.45am.

The suspect who allegedly carried out the assault, a man in his 30s, left the building and damaged a car in the area.

He then fled the scene and was apprehended by gardai a short time later.

He was brought to Mountjoy Garda Station where he is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The woman was taken to the Mater Hospital with serious injuries.

Gardai say the investigation is ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing with anyone for information to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 666 8600 or the Garda Confidential line on 1800 666 111.
