Woman left with potentially life changing injury after bus crash

A woman in her 30s has been left with a potentially life changing head injury after a bus crash in Bristol.

Emergency services attended the scene of the collision involving the pedestrian and a bus on Fishponds Road yesterday (Wednesday, May 26).

Avon and Somerset Police said they were called by South Western Ambulance Service at 4.30pm.

The road was shut for more than six hours as officers investigated.

The woman is still in hospital and her next of kin have been informed.

Police are now searching for witnesses and dashcam footage to help their investigation.

In a statement they said: "We’re appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a collision involving a pedestrian and a bus.

"Officers were called by the ambulance service to attend a collision on Fishponds Road, Bristol at 4.30pm on Wednesday 26 May.

"A woman in her 30s remains in hospital with potentially life-changing head injury. Her next of kin are aware.

"Fishponds Road was closed between Hockey’s Lane and Station Road while specialist officers examined the scene.

"The bus was recovered and the road reopened by 10.40pm."
