Woman left with 'life-changing injuries' and two others in hospital after Blackley horror crash

A woman has been left with 'life-changing' injuries after a horror crash in Blackley this morning.

Three people were taken to hospital after the smash on Middleton Road, outside the entrance to the golf course on Heaton Park Road West, just after 8am (Monday).

Three cars were involved in the crash - a grey Ford Juga, a grey BMW and a dark blue Mercedes.

A woman had to be cut free from her car by fire crews.

The 25-year-old is believed to have sustained 'life-changing' injuries, Greater Manchester Police confirmed this afternoon.

Police Sergeant Neil Pennington of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit appealed for witnesses, saying: "A young lady is in hospital with very serious injuries and we need to find out exactly how this collision occured.

"We're appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the collision, witnessed the collision occur or saw any of these vehicles involved in travelling in the area prior to the collision, to come forward and assist police with our enquiries."

A man, whose age has not been confirmed, and a pedestrian, a teenage girl, were also taken to hospital.

The northbound carriageway of Middleton Road was closed off for almost four hours after the crash.

Pictures showed one car completely overturned onto its roof at the scene, while two other cars appeared to have been badly damaged in the smash.

PS Pennington added: "We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage around the time of the incident.

"Anyone with information, or dash-cam footage, should contact GMP's Serious Collision Investigation unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident 632 of 26/07/21.

"Alternatively, details can be passed on anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
