A pub worker was left with facial injuries after a brawl in a bar spilled outside a West End pub.

The ugly scenes unfolded inside The Denton on Sunday after a group started brawling inside

Door staff kicked the troublemakers out but witnesses claim the trouble continued and spilled on to a nearby roundabout.

Northumbria Police are investigating the incident in which a female bystander, understood to be a staff member, received facial injuries.

Pub management were unwilling to comment on the incident but confirmed the staff member wasn't seriously injured.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Police received a report of an altercation at a hotel on West Road, Newcastle on Sunday, May 30.

"At around 10.30pm officers attended the scene at the Denton Hotel where a group of people had been fighting with each other and security staff removed them from the bar.

"The group left the scene heading towards Denton Dene

"One woman who was not with the group received an injury to her face.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police via the Northumbria Police website on the Tell Us Something page or contact 101 quoting reference 1300 30/05/21."
