Woman left terrified after claims she was terrorised by mob of 30 people

A woman says she was terrorised by a mob of young people who threatened to stab her with a machete as she mad her way home in Blackley .

Police were called shortly after 7.20pm on Thursday evening to reports of a large group of people, one of whom was wielding a machete.

The woman said she was approached by a 'mob' of around 30 people near to Boggart Hole Clough who made threats to stab her.

She claimed that after safely returning home, she saw the group of youths threatening other people in the street as they walked past.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed they attended the scene, but that no weapons were seen.

Photos seen by the Manchester Evening News show a large group of people gathered outside the Clough near Lewis Avenue.

The woman, who did not wish to be named, claimed: "A big group of people were racially abusing people as they walked past and they were threatening to stab people.

"They were shouting abuse at me when I walked past to go to the shop - there were about 30 of them. It was terrifying.

"This was going on for at least two hours."

"This area is becoming a no go area but I have not seen anything like this before," she added.

The resident says she believed that a man had been left injured following the disturbance, but police confirmed they had not received reports of injuries.

A spokesperson for GMP said they were called to Nuthurst Road on Thursday evening.

They confirmed: "Police were called shortly after 7.20pm on Thursday 25 July 2019 to a report of a large group of young people, one of whom was carrying a machete.
